Indian Deb Mukherjee, father of renowned director Ayan Mukerji, passed away at the age of 83

 

Actor and filmmaker Deb Mukherjee passed away on March 14 at Mumbai. Thoroughly connected to the Mukherjee dynasty Deb was a distinguished son of film director Sashadhar Mukherjee and an influential figure during the North Bombay Durga Puja festival ceremonies. He serves as the parent of director Ayan Mukerji and he also fulfills the role of director.

The acting career of Deb Mukherjee started with Sambandh before he appeared in well-received films such as Ek Baar Muskura Do and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Through motion pictures he achieved wide-reaching influence yet his impact also touched the core elements of Bollywood cultural development.

Through his relationship with Sujata she gave birth to famous filmmaker Ayan Mukerji who made Wake Up Sid and Brahmastra. He maintained close industrial connections through his niece Kajol and his daughter Sunita who became married to movie director Ashutosh Gowariker.

The Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai, is where they will perform Mukherjee’s last rites on March 14, 2025.
