The Italian national under-21 team suffered defeat against Netherlands during their friendly competition.
The Italy U-21 national football team faced defeat against the Netherlands during their friendly match at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo in Venice on 21 March 2025 through a 2–1 final score.
The friendly match took place before the upcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia. The match turned out poorly when Italy lost control of a crucial numerical benefit in its players during the late stages of the game.
The Netherlands began their offensive in the 19th minute although Italy started with strong attacking moves at the start. Fitz-Jim scored a magnificent goal against Italy which was initiated by Poku's assist to put his team ahead. Italy started strongly yet the visiting team's first-half goal disembedded the home fans during the match.
The Italian team had numerous scoring opportunities during the first half as Gonto and Baldanzi both launched near-scoring attempts. Before halftime Boldanzi struck a powerful shot at the goal that Owusu-Oduro of Netherlands cleanly stopped maintaining a 1-0 Dutch lead.
